PIG- FEEDING TESTS.

The three principal breeds of 'pigs all have their own particular fuucieip, and it may interest them to know the result of a careful tent made as to the best breed for putting on a pound of pork on a given ration. The te c t was made at the Ontario Agrieultura College, and pens of Berkshires, Yorkshires, and Tamworths were fed on exactly the same ration for 112 days. •ho pig* were eight weeks old when the experiment began. The food was chiefly peas, pollard, and whey, and the three breeds were treated m precisely the samo way. The result showed that there wa» very little difference between the breeds m putting on weight. The Yorkshires were rather better than the others, heading the list with a total gain of 12}flb m the 112 dayß ; the Berkshires came next with a total gain of 1201 b, and the Tam,wortli< third with 119£lb total gain m weight. This amounts to a daily gain of I*lo b fo.' the Yorkshires, 1071 b for the Berkshires, and TOGIb for Iho Tanworth3. Now, wi:h regard to the comparative quantities of food, it appears that the Yorkshire required the least and the T.imworfchs the moat The weight of food consumed to make 1001 b gain m wo'ght was as fol!ow3 :— -Yorkshires 3301 b, Berkshires 3701 b, Tarn worth 377! b. Another rather interesting point was brought out m the report of Hub experiment. It i* known that the amount of food required tp produce
