Proposed Gun Club.
To the (Ldttor. Sir,— About the close of the 1894 shootin? season I whs induoeri from observations to puggest ti.at m my opinion it was advisable to form a Gun Club for this district, with the objeot of all sportsmen bavin? an united interest and so infuse a feeling of harmony between nportsmen and landholders— destioy the cemmon practice of poacnittg and annoyance to farmers and their stock and damage to property, &c. Last season it was a common practice for one person to ask a farmer if be would be allowed to hay* a -lay's shooting over his farm. ••Farmers don't like to say no." hot, to his surprise, on the day appointed a whole party were present, possibly some of them not friends of the farmer. That should not be. All land-holders have a perfect right to appoint who shall form a party to shoot or course over his lands, large or small. lam by no means a sportsman worthy of the name, but invite a disnvssion, as a feeler as to what the public opinion is, from shooters, greybound coursers, &c. It is not uy way I wish to prevail, but what will be. most acceptable to all interest Wd, The cost of joining a Cub, I aug* s should be free, or as small a oh «rge as possible to cove** costs, and . to be free from a breaco of the law.— l am, &c, T.B. Howsom.
