The best point ot the visitors was their collaring, and m that they could have done much better had they not tackled so nigh. The game started soon after eleven, South bridge defending the Northern goal. - A very few minutes after the start Matshall got over for the College, no goal resulting from the kick. Craddock next obtained a tiy, and Marshall improved his own score b/ a successful pot and another try. Ip^ this, spell South* bridge had. no show . as : their opponents screwed every scrum or else heeled out to their backs, who scored try after try by their welljudged passing. But m the second spell the visitors worked better and Brady secured a mark, and MacMillan made a good kick, but failed to score. Bray soon after made a good run past the Maroons 25, but the pass intended for MacMillan was intercepted by Craddock, who ran down the touch line and scored right behind: the posts. Marshall converted the try and did likewise off another of Craddock's. Cane then ha I a very ensy run m, bat Marshall failed to register the major point. The College then got careless and Southbridge managed by hard work to keep them m their own quarters, and for some time very near .their line. Here D. West got over from a scrum near the touch line, and MaoMillan by a splendid kick converted it into- a goal. In the remaining two' nunut s the ball was kept m neutral territoiy and the game ended m favour of the College by 13 to 6. For the College, Craddock, Marshali, Jack m the backs,* "and Thacker, Cane, and Speight played, well. For Southbridge, MacMillan ', played a Splendid game at threequarter, tackling, running, and kicking ; well. The other backs who wer<* prominent were Brady, Bray, and W. The East Christchurch backs were all first fitteen men as were several of their forwards so that the team could hardly be called a Junior Cup one. The Leeston captain won the toss and elected to play with the sun behind him. Immediately after the kick out Holley got the ball on the -line, and sent ,it along to Jollie, who transferred it to' Graham, enabling him to pot a nice goal, No further score was made for some time though both teams worked hard. Holley got the ball at last and sent it out to Jollie who passed it to Donald, and he scored a well earned try close to the corner flag. Graham took the kick but did not convert. The Yellows now woke up, and Hobbs getting the ball from the throw m made a short run and passed to Forb% who touched down close to the posts. Quinn took the kick and landed a goal. The next score was make by Moorhead who by smart following up secured the se~ cond try for Leeston, the kick at goal j proving a failure. No further score, was made, and the first spell ended. In the second spell the Keds were hard pudhed for some time and a scru i. was formed on their line, but a lucky free kick enabled them to take the play to the middle of the ground.
