(From the Duustan Times) Six tenders were received for the erection of the Clyde School Leslie Arthur & Co £387 10s, A. O. Fnuntiin £3BO, T. Dm vis £4Ol 15s, ;V. Monison £443, F W Lyders £470, McKechnie & Nees £544 6s...The Board accepted the tender of Arthur & Co. We have to acknowledge receipt of a bag i f cherries and strawberries from Mr 15 Dawxon of Conroys. The fruit was of an excellent quality and fully bore out Conroy’s reputation. Owing to whooping cough the infant room of the Clyde School is now closed A nnmber ol infants are now to be seen playing hoops without the cough. Since the fire on the 13th in Mr R Sheppard’s stable at Matakanui, three of his horses have since died. This is a veiy serious loss in any ca i e, but it is particularly so when reliable horses are so difficult to replace. The origin of the fire is still doubtful.
