Bowling... The Bowling Club opened the season under pleasant conditions on .Saturday afternoon, when there was an excellent attendance of members. The president, Mr W. Mcintosh, declared the season opened and Mrs Mcintosh rolled the first bowl. Personal Mr & Mrs S. A. Koskin, who are leaving the district, were entertained at a complimentary social in the Lauder Hall on Wednesday last, when there was an excellent attendance. On bthalf of residents, Mr T A Clouston presented the guests with a wallet of notes and expended best wishes for their future happiness. A/C. 2 A- G. Bell is on furlough and is visiting his parents Mr & Mrs G. N. Bell. Mr N. Wood has taken over the grocery business at Lauder recently conducted by Mr S A. Hoskin. Miss Evelyn Taylor, of Balclutha is a visitor here, and is the guest of Mr & Mrs G. Bell. Auction Sale Attention is directed to an advertisement in this issue by the Central Otago Commiision Agency regarding an important auction sale of property at Omakau and Ophir. Welcome Home— An enthusiastic welcome home social was given, in the Poolburn Hall on Friday night, to Corporal R. H. Webster and Pte R. 0 'Connor, who have recently returned from overseas. There wa§ a very large attendance, people being present from all parts of the district. Mr W. J. Dundass, was chairman and he warmly welcomed the guests Mr R, Nevill made the usual presentations and Mr L. Tilbury extended best wishes from the RSA Excellent music was provided by the Victory Band and the dancing was much enjoyed.
