NASEBY BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of tno Naseby Borough Council was bold on Tuesday the 7th April, when there were present Mis Worship the Mayor Mr J. W. Keogh, Ors Motion, Templeton and Strong, The outward correspondence consisted of letters in accordance with instructions issued at the last meeting and also ot hers relating to the general routine work of the oilice. The inward consisted ol letters as follows—:
Mr W. A. Bodkin wrote re Crown lands adjoining Borough. The Commissioner of Crown Lands also wrote on the same subject ottering the Borough about tou acres of Crown land on certain conditions. A letter of appreciation was received from the local Lire Brigade thanking the Council for work done on the water mains.
The Commissioner of Taxes sent some notices asking the Council to display the notices in the oliice meeting room
Many other letters and circulars were received but were of no local interest. On the motion of C'rs Templeton and Hutton the inward correspondence was received and the outward approved
The Finance Department recommended Ihe payment ol accounts amounting to £2 l-i5-iod.
The Mayor Mr Keogh reported (hat most of the work put in hand at the last meeting had been seen to and some of the jobs iinisned He was satisfied with the work done. The cleaning'out of the dam was not completed but as soon as water was available the job would be finished The work in the- cemetery was done. The water mains had been cleaned out from the Doctor’s to the Post Oliice and from Mr D. Inder’s residence to Leven Street. The whole of the water mains would be done if the No 5 Scheme was to be continued again after the 27th April. The road passed Mr Smiths had been improved but would require a bit of gravel. The road from Mr Brcinnor’s house leading up to the back of the Presbyterian Church had been improved and all the broom cleared off. Some other work about the Borough would be gone on with, provided the scheme continued after the 27th.
On the motion of Or Motion and Cr Strong (he matter of procuring gravel for the road passed Mr Smith’s was left in the hands of the Mayor to obtain a price from the two local carters and get lhe work done subject to the No 5 Scheme being continued.. Be the Crown land adjoining the Borough—Besolved that nothing be done until a reply from the Land olt’ice is received by (he Mayor. The matter to be fully discussed at the next meeting of the Borough.
Tim Cleric was instructed to interview tlie Secretary ut the Masonic Lodge and request him to have a large root of a tree removed from the road in front of the Hall,
The Borough desires to clean up the road and have all the Broom and gorso removed oil’same. The ground could then be used as a place to Bark the cars in on meeting nights.
Instructions were given to have the man hole in the Becreation reserve cleaned out as soon as possible. A hearty vote of thanks to the Chair brought the meeting to a close.
