VINCENT SUB-UNION ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the \ invent Sub-union was held at Clyde on Saturday night, when there were present Messrs J Wing (chair) Dr Brokonshire (Clyde), L J. Anderson, Dr Harrison (Cromwell), H. Wilkinson (Pembroke) E. Marslin, W. Noble (Alexandra), M do Betteneor (Lowburn), J. Clouston and T. Duggan (Matakanui). .The minutes ol the last annual meeting were read and continued. Correspondence was read and dealt with as under From Mr W. Hewitt, secretary of the Hockey Association thanking the Subunion for co-operation in arranging the fixtures. From the O.K.F.U, on closing a copy of the minutes of the meeting with country delegates. This showed that Count i-y Week, same combinations as last year, Mas to be held on August nth and 7th. It had also been decided to recommend (he holding of a conference of delegates at Alexandra on May Ist. to arrange dates ol tournaments and county matches, and to discuss matters relating to trophies that are open for competition—A motion agreeing to the dates for Country Week was passed and the president was appointed delegate to the conference at Alexandra, with instructions that only the counties interested be permitted to discuss the rules governing the While Horse and Topp Cups. It was pointed out that only the counties o( \ inccnt, Lake, Maniotojto, Tuapeka and Western District were concerned in the Topp Cup, and Vincent only in the White Horse Clip A notice of motion by the Matakanui Club that a tournament or county match be played at Omakau, Mas M’itlidrawn, as it M’as not in order, and Mr Clouston intimated that he'would give notice again. The O.R.F.U. intimated that footballs for schools would be supplied at half cost. Scoular & Coy. wrote re the Dewar Cup, stating that it had been given for competition among B grade teams in Vincent, challenges to be played after the fixtures are completed. Mr D. jolly wrote thanking the Subunion for appointing him as delegate, and intimating that he had attended the conference whh country delegates. —The secretary’s action in appointing Mr Jolly was approved Dr Harrison remarked that while Mr Jolly was an excellent man, he had been away from country football for some three years, and he was strongly of opinion that the Sub-union’s president s should represent them at the annual conference with the O.K.F.U. Later in the evening he moved that in future the president attend this annual conference, and it was carried. It was decided to purchase a dozen annuals -one copy to be sent to the secretary of each club. The secretary of the O.R.F. U. M-rote suggesting that the Sub-union should get in touch with Mr Tail (teacher of Pembroke) who has been an enthusiastic member of the Wanganui Union.— Mr Wilkinson said that he would be pleased to get in touch with Mr Ta.it. The balance-sheet M-as read and adopted. This showed a satisfactory position, the year commencing with a credit of £’27 3 I, and closing with a credit of £33 17 £>, tvith £l7 to come from the clubs. In discussing the expenditure Mr Wing mentioned that the Cromwell delegates had not charged for car hire and he thought they should be thanked for their line sporting spirit. (Applause). Election of Office-bearers-resulted as under — President—Mr LJ. Anderson ; Vice-president, Mr J. Clouston ; Selectors—A. grade—The folloMing M’erc nominated ; Messrs J. Wing E. Marslin, E. Naylor, Dr Harrison and R. Thomas, and on a ballot being taken the first three M-src declared elected. B grade—Messrs T. Duggan, Hosking and McKellar. Flag Committee, the President and Messrs Wing and Marslin. Secretary—Mr D, A. Cahill expressed his intention to retire, but after several delegates had spoken in complimentary terms regarding that gentleman’s good work as secretary, he consented to reelection. The Poolburn Dam Club applied for affiliation and to enter a team in the A grade competition. Granted. TWO OK THREE ROUNDS' This question caused a lot of discussion and there M’as a lot of voting before it Mas decided to refer the question to the clubs. Mr Wilkinson brought up the question and said that Waiiaka was keen to flay three rounds, and Mr Anderson said that Cronnvell also M’anted three rounds Mr Marslin, who favoured three with only four teams in the competition, thought now that they had six teams that tMO rounds were sufficient The Matakanui delegates agreed with Mr Marslin, whiles Dr Harrison did likewise. The latter gentleman thought that there Mere many players M'iio could not afford to do the travelling that three rounds , involved, and another objection M’as that there M’as not sufficient time. Mr Wing and Dr Brokenshiro M’ere responsible for an amendment M’hich M’as carried that the clubs be asked “for an opinion, (he majority to decide. The fixing of opening day was left to (he Flag Committee. The following was suggested for the first games— Poolburn Dam to Matakanui ; Alexandra to Clyde ; Waiiaka to Cromwell I *|i was decided that delegates and lelerees be supplied wi’h badges. The president drew attention to the necessity for delegates to impress on players the importance of matches being stalled at the jJicpei lime,

Permission tvas granted for the following matches on Easter Saturday Clyde v Port Chalmers ; Matakanui v Zingari ; Cromwell v Taieri. Mr Wing brought up the matter of the necessity for the better control of B grade teams. He mentioned the ease of the LoM’buni team going to GalloM’ay and finding no team to play them. Mr Marslin M’as appointed sole selector for the combined Vincent Maniototo team, and also manager of the team. Mr Wing pointed out that it Mould be in the best interests of the game if two matches Merc nut played on the one ground on (he same day. Mr Wing thanked the delegates and secretary for their loyal support, during his term of office. Mr Anderson in returning thanks for his elceliuiijts president, said that he looked forward to a good season, aud would do his best for all. A vote of thanks was accorded the chair, and the meeting closed at 11.15 p in.
