DENTAL CLINIC.

The meeting of townspeople called {or Wednesday last, was attended by Messrs S. A. Stevens (chair), W. K. George, J. L. Davidson, E. W. George, H- E. Stevens, A- Wilson, E. Wood, W. M. Lopdell, Rev. A. B. Pywell, G. Hanning, Jas. Holt, Lea Vercoe, W. A. Harlow and J. 0' Connell. The chairman explained that the conference between the Town Trust and the School Committee it had been decided that it was desirable to erect a building for aclinic at the schoolAfter discussion it was decided to appoint a Dental Clinic Committee of seven. There were eleven nominations and an election resulted in the following being elected—Messrs H- E. Stevens, S. A. Stevens, A. Wilson, E Wood, J. L. Davidson, W- K. George and E W. George. At a subsequent meeting of the Committee at which Messrs H EStevens and E. W. George were elected chairman and secretary respectively, it was decided to make an appeal to the public, and the following circular has been issued : Dear Sir or Madam, You will no doubt be interested to learn that at a meeting of townspeople, held last evening it was unanimously decided to erect a Dental Clinic in the School Grounds at Clyde. The reason for this decision is that the room at present in use in the Town Hall is unsatisfactory and that it has practically been condemned by the Health Department. With the liberal subsidy of £l for £1 offered by the State, a sum of ouly, about, £4O will be required to erect a suitable building, and it is proposed to raise this sum by public subscription. It is pleasing to know that Cabinet has decided to extend the scheme to every school, both private and public, so that all the young children of the Dominion should be able to participate in a scheme that is already having a wonderfully beneficial effect on the health of the rising generation. Feeling'sure that you will appreciate the laudable object that the Dental Committee has in view, we confidently look for your practical support when our collectors have the pleasure of calling upon you."
