The combined Vineent-Maniototo team did remarkably well against Tuapeka-Western districts, and the fact that the Otago selectors picked no less than seven Vincent players out of the four counties to play against the province, shows, at least, that our players are still to be ;* reckoned with. That we were un lucky to lose the Topp Cup is borne out by subsequent happenings- In regard to the match in question, Vineent-Maniototo won easily by DJ to nib The stars on the winning side were Reg Waldron and Artie Marslin. In the first spell the only score was a try by Hannay. The Greens were attacking most of the time, but missed several good opportunities. Frank Donnelly was of much assistance to his side, getting in some fine returns, while a feature of the first spell was a good run by Tim Leask- The game in the first half was fairly even and there was much interesting play. The second spell was not long in progress before the Green (V-M) forwards earned play right through the defence. A pretty piece of passing followed, the ball going right out to Hannay, who cut in and beat two men to score. Hannay converted. Jack Hannay kicked a splendid goal. 13—nil Churchill was responsible for shifting play to the Colours line, and he also showed up in a nice hit of passing. Hannay was nearly over, and then Waldron worked the blind side, Marslin scoring. Hannay failed to convert. 16—0. The Colours had a turn at attack, but Law left them standing, Dougherty finishing off a great effort by scoring. Hannay missed the kick and the game ended Vineent-Maniototo ’ DJ Tuapeka-West Otago 0
