Count Felix von Luckner is louring (he world, his mission being to exhibit German goods and lecture on the war from the German point ol view. The Count was the commander o[ the German raider See Adler and was it source ol much .anxiety to the Xew Zealand authorities of whom lie was for some time a prisoner ol war. In the course ol his address he told the story ol breaking through the itritisb North Sea blockade in a wooden sailing vessel which was disguised as a Norwegian lumber ship. He stated tha I ho lore Ids raiding was over lie had destroyed 2d ships with (10,000 tons ol saltpetre in the South Atlantic and the Pacific. An American paper remarks: “These 00,000 tons ol Chilean nitrates, which Count von Luekner called sail pel re, were destined lor the use ol the Allies or the (Tinted States. It is an exellent illustration ol how it would he possible in ease ol another war lor any Power having even a fairly largo navy to cut off completely the supply ol nitrates from the United States.'
