Mr Ted Wilson, of Lauder, was the victim of a painful accident last week, through the accidental discharging of a rifle. One of his fingers had to be amputated, and he is an inmate of the Dunstan Hospital. The Loyal Vinecnt Lodge will hold a card party (for u which handsome prizes will be given) and social in the Ophir Hall on Friday, 29th inst. Hard frosts continue, and there is still something of a water famine in Clyde. This is the result of burst mains, which entail a lot of work to replace. A scandal in Canterbury College has by turns amused and angered students. The Professorial Board heard and took serious notice of a report that there was unseemly conduct among the members of a Canterbury College party going to Auckland tor the Easter tournament. The worst allegation seems to have been that, on the Main Trnnk train, young women students sat on the knees of male students. Under cross-examination the students declared that there was no unseemly conduct, but it was admitted that in the crowded carriage girls may have for a time sat on the young men’s knee. The finding of the Board has not yet been given.
