SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

The annual meeting of householders held in the Schoolhouse, Clyde, on Wednesday last, was attended by Messrs H. E. Stevens, Dr Turnbull, W. Lopdeil, A. Wilson, E. Wood, J. Holt and J. Carmichael. Mr Stevens was voted to the chair.

The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and confirmed. The audit balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of was read and adopted. The Chairman reported that the year just closed had been a satisfactory one. Some anxiety had been occasioned regarding the attendance, and there had been a grave danger of losing the services of a teacher. Thanks, however, to the splendid average maintained this had been averted. The high standard of the school had been well maintained, a fact which had been disclosed by the Inspector's report of the annual examination. He moved a hearty vote of thanks to the head teacher and staff, and this was unanimously carried. Mr Holt proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the retiring Committee, and this was carried unanimously. The election of a Committee resulted as under:— Messrs H. E. Stevens. Dr Turnbull, W. Lepdeli, A. Wilson and E. Wood.

At a subsequent meeting of the Committee Mr Stevens was elected chairman and secretary.
