SHEPHERD LADDIE, bred by Mr Wm. Charters, Ury Park, is a thick set bay with white face and legs, a splendid mover, good hoofs, with good flat bone and plenty of straight hair. Sire Shepherd King, g-sire Shepherd Lad (324), g-g-siie Herd Laddie (imp.) (2863) C.5.8., gg-g----sire Jimmy Grey (1454) C.5.13. Shepherd King was champion stallion at Southland Show on several occasions Shepherd Lad was also champion stallion at Southlaud Show several times. Shepherd Lad has left more champion maies than any horse * that ever stood 1 in New. Zealand, viz., Nellie Grey, Daisy Bell, Apaiima Fancy, Queen Agg, Shepherd Princess and lots others too numerous to mention.
Dam, Tearls Pride, by the Mackenzie g-damlP'earl by Lord Salisbury (imp.); g.g.dam Damsel (imp. by the late Mr McCallum ;of Southland. The day Mr McCallum bought Damsel she was first aud champion at Highland at Glasgow, and also champion for the best animal of either sex, and she cost him GOO guineas. Pearls Pride by The Mackenzie, by Lion King by British Lion (imp.) out of Scotch Annie (imp.) The Mackenzie's dam Glasgow Maggie won more prizes in the Taieri than any other mare ever shown, and when 18 years»old was iirst for mare and two of her progeny. Pearl was full sister to the late Hon. 31 Holme's successful stud horse Crown Prince, both being by Lord Salisbury out of Damsel. Pearl was iirst at the leading- shows in New Zealand on several occasions.
By the above it will he seen that Shepherd Laddie comes from the very best blood ever imported into the Dominion as his pedigree contains the names of Lord Salisoury, British Lion, Herd Laddie and Damsel, and no one will question but that they were the very best animals ever imported into this country—they cost the most money and were the most successful at Home.
