LATE TELEGRAMS.
(From our own correspondent.)
Dunedin, May 3rd. A BIG HAUL.
The Police made a raid on a gambling den at 11 o’clock on Sunday night, and secured 33 Chinamen for playing Fan-tan. A large sum of money was also seized. The Police have been watching this place for some time, and decided that Sunday was a good opportunity to make a raid. It is said that the long immunity from molestation had iuduced a feeling of carelessness on the part of the Chinese. The whole batch will appear before the Court this morning.
