There is no trace of blood-poisoning The police are baffled, and unable to develop the plot theory. CzolgobZ has declared that the head quarters of Anarchism are in Chicago Alleghany, Patterson, St. Louis, Cleveland, and Buffalo. Sept 13 The President's condition was not quite so good. His food disagreed with him* and was discontinued. The pulse was unsatisfactory, but has now improved. President McKiuley took coffee broth, and frequent ounces of beel extract. Be merely complained of fatigue. Sept 15 President McKinley is dead. In the House Mr Seddon moved that ' this House desires to express its detestation and horror at the diabolical, wicked, and unprovoked attempt made to take the life of the worthy and revered President of the United States, William M'Kinley, and desires to extend to Mrs M'JKinley, the relatives of the President, and the American people its warm and sincere sympathy and, further, shares with all good people the Sorrow and grief that a man could be found who, without cause or provocation, should attempt to take the life of a good and great man; that members rejoice and are delighted to hear that the assassin has failed in his attempt and that the wounds in*, flicted are not likely to prove fatal; and hope that the sufferer may re* cover speedily and be restored to health, and that he may for many years to come be of service to his country and the world at large.'— Thft motion was seconded by Captain Russell, supported by Mr W G Kussell and frir J Ward, and agreed to unanimously. Sept 16 Lord 'Ranfurly and Mr Seddon on behalf of New Zealand, cabled messages of sympathy and condolence. The closing scene was intensely pathetic. All the iamily were at the bedside excepting Mrs McKinley who was in an adjoining room. His last, words to his wile were .• God's will not ours be done,' Then was heard a murmur " Nearer my God to Thee." To friends he said " Good-bye all, its God's way, His will be done.' Mrs McKinley bears up bravely Colonel Roosevelat succeeds to the presidency. I The British Court goes into, mourning for a week, Czolgosz is io be tried immediately: On the news of the president's death an excited crowd rushed the gaol but the police repelled them.
