SINGULAR BREACH OF PROMISE
Mrs Cora. Thomas, widow, at Manchester Assizes on July 12, obtained £4OO for breach of promise of marriage from Alexander Young, of Rochdale. Both were mid-dle-aged, and the plaintiff had brought a previous breach of promise action against the same defendant, which was no sooner settled than he resumed his attentions. The following are extracts from some of the letters written by the defendant:—"! anj sure I shall be'all and everything to you, mv lovely queen; let us be as happy with oiie another as two kittens. All 1 want from mv dear, golden canary bird is kindness, and I am sure if we arc married we shall be happy." "My dearest, sweetest, loveliest queen", with every good wish and all kind love, and one little kiss, and hope to be ever your loving Boy." "With all your faults I love you "still." and hope you will still be my lovely queen." A Change.—Skipper : " Here's an account of poor old Breesy jumping off the Mary Ann. They say that he drank three bottles of whisky a day for a week before he died." Irish Mate: "Well, I reckon it was about time he took to water, sir."
