PLUCKY ATTEMPT TO SWIM THE CHANNEL.

LONDON, August 26. Holbein, ex-champion cyclist, attempted to swim the EngWsh Channel from Griesnez to Dover. He had to abandon the attempt when only five miles from Dover, being completely exhausted. He had been thirteen hours in the water.
