MR REID SPEAKS.
MELBOURNE, August 13.
The annual .Freetrade dinner was largely attended by members of .. both Federal Houses. Mr Reid declared that Mr Barton's attiutde over the old age. pensions was a cruel deception of the Australian people. He condemned the method of appointing persons to the Civil Service. The Freetrade party wanted the tariff settled by the voice of the people, which had not yet been heard. That question would have to be fought out at once by a mass referendum of the people. Australia had sent a Freetrade majority into the Senate.
