ENOUGH FOR THREE.
A story is told of a former Duke of Hamilton", who invited one of his neighbors, a plain-spoken laird, to stop at his palace for luncheon after the conclusion of a business transaction. The laird was not used to the luxuries of life, and watched with an impatient eye the tiittihgs about of a liveried servant, who seemed to be everywhere at once, anticipating the laird's wants, in a way that struck the rustic as positively uncanny. At last the guest turned deliberately about in his chair and addressed the servant in a tone of considerable irritation : " What are ve dance, dance, dancing about the room for. man?" he demnaded; '• can ye no draw in your chair and sit doon?' I'm sure there's enough on the table for three."
