Dunstan Hospital.
The ordinary' monthly meeting of the trustees of the above hospital was held in the Town Hall, Clyde, on Friday evening last; present—Messrs M’Arthur (in the chair), M’Manus, Stevens, Jeffery, Macgeorge, Naylor and Wilson. The minutes of the previous ordinary and special meetings were read and confirmed. The following correspondence was read and received: —
—From Dr Hyde re urgent necessity of attending to a drain at the hospital and requesting that a man be sent down to attend'
Mr Stevens intimated that he had taken a man down and attended to the work.
—Correspondence of a bulky nature was read from the architects Mason and Wales re the completion and inspection of work.
The chairman intimated that he had visited the new ward, and had made an inspection of the outside. He stated that the window-cills were defective, and thought that this matter should be pointed out to the architect, and remedied. The surgeon's report as follows was read and adopted.—No. of patients in hospital at beginning of month, 1 ; admitted during month, 3; discharged, 2 : remaining in hospital, 1. Accounts amounting to £303 11s were passed for payment. This amount includes £256 for the new ward.
'The visiting committee reported everything satisfactory. The question of filling the position of matron and wardsman was then brought up.
After the matter had been fully discussed, Mr Jeffery proposed : That applications be invited for a certificated nurse, at a salary of £SO per annum, and a married couple (at £Bo' per annum)— Seconded by Mr Stevens and carried unanimously.
On the motion of Messrs M'Arthurand Wilson, Messrs Macgeorge, Stevens, and Jeffery were appointed a committee to arrange matters in connection with the vacancies.
