TRANSVAAL WAR.
[From Our Own Correspondent.] —o Dunedin, Dec, 27th. A thousand Canadians are enrolling in Baden Powell's police force. Kitchiner has gone to Neauwapoort. The Boer prisoners confess that the recent activity on their part was for the purpose of obtaining arms and ammunition. The Government have accepted the offer of Canterbury people to equip and maintain 20 men at their own expense. Thorneycroft's mounted men occupied Britsoun unopposed. The Boers retired towards Priesca. The recently reported damage to Cape Railways chiefly due to floods. It is stated that the Boer leader Beyers is punishing Boers for the needless use of ammunition.
