Wool Sales.

The Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association (Ltd.) for their first wool sale report as follow : The first series ot sales were held to-day (Thursday, 20th December) in the Agricultural Hall, at 2 p.m. Attendance. -This was extremely satisfactory, and as far as buyers were concerned included some new to this market, as well as representatives of the Roslyn, Bruce, Mosgiel, and Oamaru Wollen Mills. Bidding, -j Competition was brisk, and keen bidding was the order of the day, of course, up to a point, which, taking the surrounding circumstances, must be considered satisfactory. Prices.—Of course these are satisfactory compared with last year's, but reference to the London Catalogue, received by last mail, shows that to-day's prices are fully 15 per cent, higher than those ruling at last series in London, and compared with the general run of prices realised at Christchurch last week we consider to-day's value show a rise of to |d over Christchurch Quality. -Nothing (special was in the catalogues, and the bulk of tIE Wool offered may be termed low qualities, Heavy with tar and grease, and some stains ai . earthy, and quite unsuited for local manufacturers' use, who are anxious to buy bright half-breds and • merinos. We predict a brisk demand for these sorts at our next sales, which will include some wellknown clips. We quote current values as follows: Super halt-bred, 7|d to S|-d; good half-bred, 6{d to 7 : } d ; inferior half-bred, 5d to 6d ; super cross-bred, s£d to (jel; inferior strong crossbred, 4fd to s|d ; super merino, 8d to 9d; good merino, 7d to 7|d ; inferior and greasy, 6d 6f d ; pieces, 3Jd to shd ; bellies, 3dto4d; locks I|d to 2£"d.
