Late Telegrams.
(FROM OUE OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Dunedin, December 20th. A private cable states that when the New Zealanders were on the point of leavingtheJSydney barracks they t .were ordered to remain for the celebrations. The first wool sale was held today when the bidding was spirited and sales effected, on the whole id better than sales at Christchurch. Bulk offering went to local buyers. Home bidders were unable to |compete. Two prisoners, who escaped from the Invercargill goal, have not yet been captured. The Premier and the Hon. Mr Carroll, representing New Zealand, are leaving on the 26th for the Commonwealth Celebrations. It is officially announced that the Duke and Duchess of York will visit "Dunedin, Christchurch, and Timaru, The 8-M. dismissed the case against a traction owner for not leaving four men with engine, holding that not more than two were not required. The supply of new universal penny postage stamps have ar« rived.
