The festive season is almost here, ' and if the choice of holiday : enjoyments is not quite bewildering, we are at least promised some very pleasant outings in the near future. ( The sporting fraternity are expecting two " big" days on the 26th and 27th inst., when the annual race meeting takes place. The entries are considerably more numerous than in previous years, and big fields are expected for all the events. Given fine weather the races should be highly successful this year. On the race nights the Roman Catholic community intend to hold a bazaar, and; as a strong bevy ] of ladies, have had the matter in foand tor some time past, full coffers should be the result with an equivalent in the shape of, tots. o\ fun. Durimr tri§ holidays a numerous party representing the local Teftnis J ; Club journey to Pembroke to try conclusions m\h the. knights and dames of tfie racquet there. court this year, so I suppose they are eager to acquire the honor o; as marry victories as possible. If the best get away, they should give a good account of themrrehe-. On Saturday next the majority, if not all of the dredges in the district, are closing down for a fortnight's holiday. On to-day (Wednesday) two popular young; couples of Cromwcil and Bannockburn enter the married state, and in both instances they have the wishes of many friends for their future happiness. _Or dit that several other weddings arV likely to come off here in the near future.
