Cricket.
A meeting of tUe Clyde Cricket Club was held on Wednesday evening last, to consider a challenge Lorn the ;.'j Cricket Club, when about 10 members were present, Mr R. S. Gilkison being in the chair. After some discussion it was. decided to accept the chal'enge from the Alexandra Club to piny a match at Clyde v on Saturday next. Mr W, Steveoe was elected practice captain, and Mr O. Sitmnonds was appointed to fill a vacancy on the match committee. The match committee met Immediately after the above meeting, when the following wore chosen to play against Alexandra tomorrow Francis, M. Holden, H.Hueston, ~ Facbe, C. Macgeorge, Pitches, Simmoads, W. Stevens, H. Stevens, Trim, Wood; ■ emergencies, Nash, J. B. Stevens, 1 have no doubt that the Clyde team will suffer defeat at the hande of the. premier team of last season, but I feel sure that the local team will do their utmost. to give a good account of themselves, A few of the members of the ground , ■ committee heve besn working hard at the pitch during the week, and it should be In very fair condition to-morrow.
