Alexandra School.

A meeting of the Alexandra School com* mitteo was held on Tuesday, November 2nd. Present—Messrs Thayers (chair), Kelmau, Appleton, Milne, Kennedy and i Rev. Mr Lothian. The monthly report from the head teacher was read, showing the roll number to be as follows Boys, 51; girls, 44 ; total, 95. Average attendance : Boys, 45,9 ; girls. 37.3 ; total 83.2. The teacher directed attention to a few repairs needed in the infant room, and stating that the boys desired the Committee to help them to buy some cricketing material. The inward correspondence was received and the outward approved. Mr Appleton handed in LI 16s, being balance of subscriptions collected. Proposed by Mr Lothian—That the com* mittcs vote a sum of LI to the boys, to go towards buying cricket material.—Seconded by Mr Kelman apd carried. Proposed by Mr Appleton—That the names of the different people who sub* scribed torwards the erection of the shelter shed, and the purchase of a musical instru • ment tor the Alexandra School be pub* Hshed in one of the papers next week.— Seconded by Mr Kelman and carried. Proposed by Mr Kelman—That the com* mittee purchase an organ for the_ school, and that a suitable person be appointed to select due, the price not to exceed L 25, As an amendment Mr Fraser moved— That the ordering of the organ be allowed to stand over till after the holidays,— Seconded by Mr Kennedy. The amendment was declared carried. The bank book showed a credit balance of £2l 2s 7d. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the mei ting.
