Concert at Clyde.
A meet successful concert in aid. of the. fjurnds of tjie Vincent Cycling Club was held iii the. town hall, Clyde, on Wednesday Signing, the#b inst. There was a fairly large attendance, and the.different, musical items, on the programme were well- receive}. Mieß Mi Hues ton played the oyei*. tore in. h«r usual; brilljaot style, and received a bearty round of applause. Mr Eb. Jolly hadi to respond to an encore for his comic song ''Down at the farm yard gaV The appearance Q*;o Qr popular favourite, Mrs Shaw, on.the platform : was the signal' for a hearty, burst of applause, and far the rendering of the ballad 'Far Away,' this lady bad "to respond fo a vociferous encore. Mr Lee's song, ' The Empress of the Waves/ received full justice at the bands of that gentleman, and in response to a hearty encqre, Mr Lee sang * Sweet Chiming fyVs.' Mr Macgeorge, who, is also a favourite on the concert platform, tendered bis song in his usual artistic manner. M iss. Tidey contributed a. sparkKng pianoforte selection for which she re-. ' ceived tbe the audience. A one-act sketch, emtitUd- 'Quarrelsome Servants,' brought tbefiistpjw;t of the programme to a close. ' A brilliantly played duet by the Misses Jeftery opened the second part qf the pro* gramme. Mr Strang 's song and dance was well received, and the singer, was encored back to the stage. Mr Lee had to mraft to an encore for bis rendering ofc'W Songthat reached W bear l *! and lang 'Our Jack's, come home-' The pro-. Mamma was brought, to a cloae by. a laughable farce, enjltjed «Tbe Tale of % o*tfftjfitich the performers- acquitted themselvf» in a hhjhly satisfactory, inaoner. Miss Hues ton played most of the aoepmpanlmf uti during the evening, and we are specially requested to thank her, and those ladies and gentlemen who so kindly gave their assistance towards the suoaesa of the entertaioinent.
