WHITE’S REEF GOLD-MINING COMPANY.

TO TUB EDITOR.-

Sib Different people have different opinions. Some of your remarks re White’s Reef Gobi-Mining Company in the last issun of the ilunstan Times are, to my thinking, wide of the mai k. You seem to believe Ih it if the whole management of the Company were in this district it would be better for Jthe shareholders. 1 doubt it, for 1 think it can be proved that nearly all past management has been due to want of knowledge and neglect to the present local directors.

If the Dunedin directory have made any mistake detrimental to the interests of the Company, where have they got their infer" motion from excepting through the local dp-ectory and mine manager ? What about Conroy’s reef? Was there any Dunedin directory to be blamed tor waste of money' in that Company ? Then the Last Chance Company', the Advance Company, and others on the O d Man Range. Have any of them collapsed llrongh any Dunedin directory? I trow nor.

I think you will find the Dunedin directory are composed of men in good positions, and are not likely to uvsm.mage their-part of dnties in connection of White’s Gold Mining Company provided they are dirrotly, honestly, and intelligently advised by mine managers and others. " Had there been active, intelligent, practical men on the local directory, ami they had fulfilled their duties, hundreds of pounds might have been saved for the shareholders. 1 could explain how, but it would take up too much of your spae.-. Suffice it to say, tDat if any unprejudiced sharehol ! er will give me a call, I think I can satisfy him as to the truth of the above.

Can you inform me what benefit the present local inrectory of White’s Company have been to lh« shareholders ?

You sh old get a lot of information concerning the working of White’s reef if you interviewed th( sal; local directory, seeing that they have often received repotta about the same from the nine and battery mana eers. T.-en you could give sharebo.deis the ben-fit of such information.

Hoping that this is not too long from a weary and discontented shareholder, 1 am. e'c., J. It. Kemp.

Bald Hill Fiat, June 2ird, ISBG.

P.S.—The gist of these remarks are these: We want intelligent active miners on the local directory to check unprofitable work done at the mine. There are such men (and shareholders) in the district, who no doubt would act if asked. J.R.K.
