WINING NEWS.
Mr W. F. Forrest’s Mining Report On the Old Man Range, the White’s Reef Co. have got fairly to work. In addition to the shaft commenced some time ago, they have started a tnnnel from the gully below the huts, and have already got the reef with payable prospects. They will carry the reef with them as they drive, and intend to stack the stone until they consider it advisable to erect crushing machinery. This Company has every prospect of paying dividends with very little outlay. Wookey and Gavin have commenced a drive in their lower vein, which is showing good prospects. ° Lythgoe and Gray have hired the water race from White’s Co., and are engaged sluicing; their claim shows splendid prospects. r
The Advance Company are getting every, thing ready for sinking a shaft as soon as their timber arrives, which will likely be this week. The shareholders are in good spirits, and some interests in the claim have been sold at a considerable advance on the amount paid up. Several of the other companies are making preparations to start, and in the course of a few weeks will be busy at work.
