Tt was afterwards explained by many that the fact of the meeting to he held quite escaped their memories, and many desired, if a Committee was formed, to place their names on, to give them a chance of aiding in the cause OtT the following Monday a semi-private meeting was held, wh-n .an inifn-ntial Committee was e’ectc I, Vincent
Pyke, E#q., being appointed Chairman, A. 1) Harvey, K.sq , Secretary and Treasurer. A canvass was at once started, and we arc given to understand was most heartily responded to, the Treasurer being enabled on Wolneslay last to remit the sum of 1.2-0 as a first instalment.
The meet-ini' at Alexandra on Saturday evening last was a most enthusiastic one, anil a numerous ami influential Committee was appmutid.
