CRICKET.
The match between the boys of Cromwell and Clyde to k place at Cromwell on Mon lay last, to comnete for a trophy (a handsome silver cup) presented by Mr T. Webb, of Clyde. The conditions being that the aggregate highest scorer in three matches should become the winner of the same. The game resulted in an easy victory for the hoys of Cromwell who beat their opponents in one innings, with two runs to spire the Clyde boys I'eing only able to put together in their two innings 04, aeainst their onpouents’ 60. The highest scorer in the game was D. Robertson, on the side of Cromwell, with 23. the next being Pike for Clyde with 22. There was a considerable amount of interest evinced in the game, there being a very fair attendance of spectators on the ground. In the evening there was an entertainment for the yiungsters, (got up by the giver of the troohy), which was well attended hy both young and old, concluding with a dance. During the course of the evening, th - Rev. Mr Ash presented the cup to the winner, with a few sensible remarks.
