The Launceston Volunteers have heen called out for active service and placed umler the Munity Act. Cummock, the defaulting librarian, has been arrested, and was to bn brought up at the City Police Court last Wednesday. Margaret M'Donald has heen committed for trial in Dunedin for stabbing a Chinaman named Sin Hing. The area ot wheat under cultivation in New South Wales has largely increased this year. A most destructive cyclone has passed over Brisbane, and great damage done.
