WASTE LANDS BOARD.
At the meeting of the Waste Lands Board held on the 25th ultimo the following business was transacted Messrs M’Lareu and Turnbull requested that when surveys of land on their run are received, portions of sections 8 end 9, block IV, between the road-line ami their pre. emptive right he reserved from sale to enable them better to work their run. Consideration deferred until survey maps are brought before the Board. MrJ. C. Chappie wrote explaining the nature and extent of his improvements upon deferred payment section No. 29, block 111, Lauder, for which lease in exchange for license had been refused, on the ground that the conditions of personal occupation had not been complied with. in the face of the District Land Officer’s report, which showed applicant had made no more use of the allotment than of an agricultural lease block, the Board resolved that they could not alter their previous decision. M r John Stavely applied to purchase as a homestead, under the provisions of the Mines Act, 12J acres of section 21, block 1, BUckstone survey district. Ihe conditions as to advertising having been complied with, the application was referred to the Governor for approval, Mr Doughty appeared on behalf of Messrs Low and Robertson to object to the granting of a lease at Coal Creek, Teviut, lately applied for by Mr Tamblyn. There was also a similar application on the part of Mr A. J. M‘Bherson. Consideration of the whole matter was adjourned.
