Mr Stout), who will no doubt give directions to have allotments surveyed at once and placed at disposal of such of the unemplyoyed as may choose to form homes for themselves on suitable terms. J. Macandrew. His 'Worship the Mayor of Dunedin. The Starsaysthat the Minister of Works has telegraphed to Blair ito put in hand at once the second section of the Otago Central Railway. The instructions have leen anticipated by the department, and the work is so far advanced as to enable unemployed men to be taken on this week. The section on which it is proposed to employ them adjoins the Wingatui contract. It extends down Mullocky Gully and up the Taieri three or four miles, or as far as required. As has been done on Waikouaiti section, the Government will give piecework.
