ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.
— o— ordinary meeting of this Council was held on the 23rd inat. Present—James Samson, Mayor (in the chair) ; and Councillors Finlay and Beresford.
The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The inward corresdondencc was read and received, which consisted of a letter -from Mr Brown, asking permission of theConncil to be allowed to quarry stone at the back of the township. - Granted. From the lessees of the Corporation Water Race, offering to purchase the Corporation boxes for Ll4. From the Library Committee, asking the Council what amount they would tako in satisfaction of the debt owing to the Council by tbe Library. A letter of advice was read from Mr Wilson, solicitor, in reference to the Water Works Act.
After considerable discussion, it was resolved, on tho motion of Cr Beresford, seconded by Cr Finlay—That tho letter stand over until next meeting, for further consideration ; also, that the letters from the Library Committee, and the tonus of the Water Race.
The Town Clerk was instructed to notifv to the absent Councillors that the rate for the current year will bo declared at tho next meeting. The usual vote of thanks to the Chair closed the proceedings.
