The usuat weekly meeting of the Council "was held at the Temporary Chambers, on Friday evening, September 7»h. Jhe Mayor and full Council were present. .Minutes of previous meeting;were read and confirmed. The Town-clerk Tead the report of the Committee, composed of the Mayor, Councillors Cope, Morice and Hazlett, •constituted for the purpose of drawing up an Agreement with the Town-clerk. " The report was adopted. 'The Mayor was authorised to execute Bond and Deed of Agreement with the Town-clerk. The' Bond was executed in the I oom, and ordered to be deposited in the bank for safe custody, and not to be remo\<jd unless by an order signed by the Mayor and two Councillors. The Mayor then formally declared Mr Bailey Town-cleric. Moved by Councillor Cambridge—That in future the meetings of the Council be held fortnightly instead of weekly. Seconded by ; Councillor Hazlett and carIried.. Councillor Hazlett proposed That inasmuch tra this Council expresses its regret tint i'ep divy iltj.alch of the • Tuapeka mail should have Men altered, whereby great inconvenience has accrued ' to this Town. The Town-clerk write to the Chief-Postmaster expressing the above and request that the late day of departure be reverted to. Seconded by Councillor Cambridge and carried. The usual vote to the Chairman con ' -eluded the proceedings.
