CLYDE SCHOOL.
The annual examination of the children attending the above took place in the schoolhouse on We Inesdiy last. A largo number of the parents and friends of the children were present. The result of the examination showed the school in a most llour'shing condition, and the scholars under an admirable system of discipline, Recitations were given l>y Masters Willreni an 1 George Hastie, Samuels, Cope, and Wells, and by Misses Maria ahd Rose A. Kittlety. The latter —a little girl of scarce five summer*— acquitted herself in a highly satisfactory manner. There arc 41 scholars on the roll, the daily average a'tendance being 36. At the conclusion of the ex unination of the ehr-ses, prizes were distributed as follows ; General Excellence. Ist prize William Hastie 1 2nd do Maria Kittlety Writing. ! Ist prize Henry J. Ist prize Christina Mastie 2nd do Frauk Dakin 3rd do Janet Houston 4th do Maria Chadwick sth do Martha Patterson Mr Cope, a member of the School Committee, in a brief address congratulated the parents upon the success of the schooland the general proficiency of the children, lie believed that although the establishment of the School had cost a considerable outlay of money they had the satisfaction ■of knowing it was well spent. The master. Mr Cla.-ke, had been moot ajsiduoas in the discharge of his duties and deserved their warmest thanks—'.o that gentleman the success of the present ocensiou was entirely due. Mr Robinson in a hnmorou3 speech addressed the children. The children then gave three cheers for the mister, Mr Clarke, and three for the the School Committee, concluded the proceedings.
