The return of stock slaughtered and compensation paid during last year under the amending Stuck Act of 1898 shows 1 horse, 2960 cattle, and 604 swine slaughtered, and the compensation paid on the full market value £95, on half ditto £4897, total £4902; ami the sum received in respect of the disposal of oarcases £907, ot which £52 was deducted from compensation and £854 paid into the public accounts
