■Owing to many members of the City band taking part in Lobgesang, the final rehearsal of which will be held to-night, there will be no practice of the band this «vti*ing.

The concert in aid of St. Augustine's Church, which was postponed on iriday last on account of the inclement weather, ■swill take place on Friday, '26th inst.

Mr S. May son, who is very favorably known in Napier musical circles, inserts in another column an advertisement which should prove of interest to any one intending to take lessons in singing, piano and violin playing, harmony or theory.

The temperature readings at the principal places in the colony at 9 o'clock this morning were as follows: —Auckland ,55, Gisborne'47, Napier 50, Wanganui 47, Wellington 47, Bealey 34, Christchurch m, Dunedin 49, Invercargill 40, Bluff 45.

The fioal rehearsal of Mendelssohn's pleasing work the " Lobgesang " (hymn of praise) is to take place this evening, and there is every promise of a fine performance to-morrow night, Mr Neville Eenand having succeeded in getting ■together a large body of performers, including most of our best local musicians, both vocal and instrumental. The work "Contains one of the firiest orchestral :_«u_bers known to the musical world, and some of the members <if the City and ISarcißon barids are kindly giving their services to bring out the grand effects of 3tbls number. Admission to the church will be by ticket only, and the seating accommodation being limited, those who Intend being present should secure their pickets early. On account of the latter season, also, the usual reduction for children cannot be allowed.
