United Press Association. By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright. (Received July 18, 11 p.m.) London, July 18. The New Zealand bowlers beat Bromley by 49 to 31. In county cricket Somerset beat Yorkshire, scoring 87 and 630 (L. Palairet 173, Braune 107,' F. A. Phillios 122). Yorkshire made 325 and 113. The Baldwin Arctic expedition has sailed from Tromsoe, Norway, northwards. The Duke of Connaught has been installed Grand Master of the Freemasons. Mr Barry, chairman of the Eastern, Extension Telegraph Company, states that the cable from Mauritius to West Australia will be opened before the end of the year. The whole system, he contemplate, will be finished in the spring.
Consols are at £92 12s 6d. Last quotation £91 17s Gd. The wool sales close on the 2Gth ; "Rbodes's" brought 10£ d; "Enderby" 4fd. The Indian £3,000,000 sterling loan of 3 per cent, with a minimum of 98, was withdrawn. Only £1,000,000 was applied for. The price was considered too high. It is now quoted at a premium of owing to " bear " sales. Sydney, July 18. News from the Marshall Group states that a large number of cases of kerosene and the body of a man were found at Bikar Island, indicating the wreck of a kerosene-laden ship. The footprints of a woman and children were also noticed on the beach. Melbourne, July 18 Mr Barton in the House hoped that when the taiiff was brought down it would be accompanied by inter-State freetrade.
