AT THE SPIT. DAMAGE TO THE CRIBWORK.
Our Spit correspondent states that the full force of the storm waa felt at tho Port, and to-day all shipping work had to be suspended, pending the moderation of the weather. The barque Kangitikei appeared to have drifted slightly towards tho shore, aud aonsidorable interest is bdng manifested Jn her uiovpments. She was flying signals, but owing to the thick haze they could not bo road distinctly from the Opit. It was thought adyisabio, however, to send tho rockot apparatus to a *pofc on tho Potana beach opposite to where the vessel waa anchored. The oribwork at the entrance to tho ohannel has been considerably knocked about, and large portions are being washed up on the beaoh.
