A v.ry largo meeting of the oentral committee was held yesterday, Mr Guinness, M.H.R., iv the chair, and all parts of the coast represented. Telegrams from Ohristohurch and Dunedin re trustees were reaci, nnd it was decided to hold a conference on the coast and select temporary trustees, leaving th? question of permanent trustees to be considered by the oolonj- or Parliament. The treasurer reported that thn only money available until trustees wero uppointed was £GOO and that would not bn auffieieut to pay tho grocers' and other ucooants iconrred through the accident. It ■was reaolved that two weeks' allowances bti paid (at n ratci passed) to the widows and obildrtn on Saturday.
