He deserted his wife in Napier eighteen months ago, and last Ootober married a young woman named Noble here. New Plymouth, This day. A man named George Algie was killed near Toko, Stratford, on Tuesday, through being thrown from his horse, which had bolted. Tis-Abo, This day. Mrs Bruce, wife of Mr James Bruoe, a well-known miller, now of Wellington, jumped from a bolting buggy last evening, and received such injury that she died at midnight. She wa3 down here on a holiday. Gisboenb, Thiß day. Soiry's hall and dwelling at Makaraka, were destroyed by fire. Insuranoe—£6Bo in the Phcoaix offioe. Dunedin, This day. The president of the Dunedin Fanciers' Club ffave his casting vote in frivor of Wellington as the head quarters of the Kennel Olub. Duhkdin, This day. The residence of William Ball, farmer, Tarras, was burned to the ground this morning. The house and contents were insured in the Norwich Union for _400. Nothing was saved. The Medical Congress, after discussing tuberoolosis, appointed a committee to draft slips of advice suitable for use by medioal men, dealing with cases of phthisis; also to draft a resolution to be brought under tho notioe of the Governments in the different colonies having for its objeot general preventative measures deemed necessary t) prevent the spread of tuberoolosis.
