In a breaoh ©f promise oaße in Sydney Belle Solomons claimed £500 damages from Walter Smith. It was alleged by defendant that plaintiff had confided to him that the was defotmed, but a medical man gave evidence that the plaintiff had no physical defect, and that it would be absurd to sey that maternity would be fatal to her. The jury awarded £200. The judge wss very severe on the defendant for getting up the plea of physical incapacity on plai. tiff's part, ordered defendant before tha Court, and formally oommitted him for perjury.
