LATE SPORTING.

TRAINING NOTES.

Ihe first to move this morning on the track at Hastinga was Eilingham with his team. He sent Prairie Grass and The Plug (a Bracelet candidate) three tim.s round at a sound pace, both going and finishing strongly. Rip Van Winkle and Golden Plover, two New Zealand Cup candidates, went four times round at a good sound pace. Rosoius did three circuits, boundiug over the ground in great style. Ua aud Triton did a mile and a quarter, finishing well together. Courauto, with Lindsay up, and Har'.oy on Mrs Mceller's Braoelet candidate, Egmont, went together twice round over the hurdle.*, both going and jumping well. Tiritea, who is greatly f anoied in some quarters for tho big Steeplechase, did good half-pace work, the Wanganui Steeplechase winner relishing his task. The same exercise waß mated out to The Shrew and Wikitoria. Elaine 11. (Gilpin) aud Double (Hyde) were s.nt around once over the hurdlea, both going without a mistake. Thunderbolt (Henry) also covered the same journey, but jumping none too well. Norton did three circuits, moving very freely. Bt. Authooy aud Kiwi were Bent twi.e together over tho hurdles, both jumping well, but the son of Bt Leger—Fanny Fishsr tired perceptibly at the latter end of the trial. Mozel and Boomerang (P. M'Grath) were sent twice over the steeplechase country, the jumps being taken satisfactorily. The following horses were also out doing good uaeful work :—Lotion, Blarney, Unfortunate. Langley the Devil, Pescador, Welcome Nat, and Goosander. Liberator and Bombardier are expected by Thursday's steamer from the nocth. There waa a large attsndanco oi owners and touta on the course this morning, including several ladies and gentlemen from Napier, who are interested in certain candidates at the ensuing race meetings.
