At the adjourned inqueßt into the ciroamatances oonneoted with the death of the woman Louie Smith, who died from the result of burns received during a quarrel in a Chinaman's house, the evidence went in the direction of ahowiug that Andrew and Jo»-ph Kennedy and Joaeph Jewett (who are in custody on a charge of causing the woman's death), forced their way ioto the house, where they found a friend named Robert Wilson lying on an opium bed with the woman Smith. A row ensued, and in the struggle the lamp was thrown ovtr, but as to who threw it the testimony was conflicting, one witnese declaring it was Andrew Kennedy who threw the lamp, while another declared it was Jewett. None of the witnesses were able to give a dear account of what happened, and Wilaon hims.li states that the woman Smith was not sobar at the time. The jury returned a verdict of manslaughter against either Andrew Kennedy or Jewett.
