Chrysanthemum Show.
Local horticulturists have had rather bad luck lately, owing to tho frightfully wet weather which has been experienced here, and which has had a very damaging effect upon gardens. The chrysanthemum and dahlia Bhow waa opened in Mr Hoadley's rooms this afternoon, and there was an uncommonly good collection under the circumstances, beoauso the rain has destroyed a great many blooms which would otherwise have adorned the show today. Mr Anderson, the well - known "mum" raker, has a whole table to himself, on which he bis a fine collection, varied here arid there with a few pot plants. These are for exhibition only. Mr H. t). Tiffen has forwarded a quantity of evaporated fruit for inspection by the pubiio, consisting of plums, peaches, damsons, yellow plums, pears, prunes, and tomatoes; also a collection of dahlias. Mr Thoakstoue exhibits some persimmons aud lemons, while Mr Waterliouse, of Tar-dale, has sent two splendid bunches of delicious grapes. There are sundry other exhibits sent in for show only, and the rest are for competition. These, of course, have beeu dealt with by the judges. The show will ba open again this evening, and also tomorrow.
