The sailing of the s s Lily for Wairoa ie postponed until to-morrow (Saturday) at midnight.
The list far Tuesday's civil sittings at Court comprises thirty-five cases.
The Grand All Nations Bazaar, in aid of the new Catholic Church, will be opened in the Gaiety Theatre on'luesday, April 25th, at 3 p.m. Those who remember the last Catholic bazaar, hold some years ago, will be able to form a very good idea of what the present undertaking , will be like. No trouble is being spared to secure a succeßSful result, and patrons will find ample amusement provided for them.
Mr D. J. Mackay will shortly take over the Royal Hotel from Mr Thatcher, who has for some time held the license.
Mr Maughan Baraett, tho newly appointed organist to the Cathedral, arrived in Napier last night He will not commence his duties till the Sunday after next.
The handsome painted mirror now on view ia the shop window of Messrs Howe Bros, is the work of Miss T. Bowes, and will be the prize in an art union to be held in connection wUh the All Nations Bazaar next week. Large quantities of fish of all kinds are almost daily being caught near the breakwater in a most peculiar manner. Rockblusting at the bottom of the eea is being proceeded with, and after the fuse ia lighted th<3 boat is pulled away by the operators. After the blast has taken place the surface of tho water i* strewn with fish of all sorts and sizes, who have either been killed or rendered stupid through the concussion Then the men in the boat go along: with a scoop and rake in a harvest This method of fishing does not try the patienoe so much as tho old time scheme of enticement.
