[_OWN COKBE3POJMDKN-.]

Mrs Montgomery, I understand, received a cable from Mr Purvis Russell on Friday, stating that he and _.rj Russell, with Mrs Montgomery's children, wero coming out to the Woburn estate, leaving Scotland about September next, and that the place was to bo made ready lor theta. I hear that building operations are to commence at once, and that a large house is to be put up for the reception of Mr and Mrs Bussell. On Saturday morning, about nine o'clock, an accident of a serious character happened at Messrs Nelson Bros.' workH, by which Cooper, a workman, was ve?y seriously injured. Cooper had been at work since nine o'clock the night before loading frozen meat, and had just returned from having his breakfast. The loading was nearly finished, and the meat was to bo sent on to Napier by the nine o'clock train, when Cooper, who was standing at a door in tho works, noticed a carcass o_ iiozen mutton falling from a passing truck He leaned out to put it right, wben he must have slipped, for tlie truck struck him on tho chest, dashing bim against the doorpost whero he had been standing. A stretcher was quickly improvised, and he was taken home, and Dr Reed sent for. On arriv.l, Dr Reed found that Cooper, who was insensible, had badly fractured his collar-bone, and that his shoulder-blade was badly injurec', besides whioh he had received a serious shock to his system. He, however, lam glad to say, is at present doing very well. The Rev. Oliver Dean conducted both tho morning and evening services at St. Mary's Church yesterday, preaching eloquent sermons on both occasions. Tha Bishop of Waiapu will officiate at tha services next Sunday.
