We were shown to-day a sample of Fiji chutney, which clearly proves what practical experience can achieve in the production of delicious relishes from the numerous kinds of fruit for which the South Sea Islands are so justly celebrated. The article in question, both in pungency aud flavor, and other characteristics, is quite equt»l tp the celebrated Indian chutney, but with' this difference —that it can be placed on the market at about one-half the cost of the latter, sitnply owing to the facilities tho manufacturer has at hie command in obtaiuing (direct from Fiji) an unlimited Piipply of tho properly ripened aud various Idnds of frt.it required in its production. Should he receive 'any encouragement, he will oommence operations as early as possible, and place some of this exoellent Fiji chutney on the Napiar market, together with other kinds of South Sea Island preserves.
